ASPM DiversionsX Manual
OverviewASPM provides data on flights that are diverted from their originally planned destination due to weather, equipment issues, or other factors. Diverted flights can return to their origin airport or another airport. Many but not all diverted flights are followed by a recovery flight to the original destination, and those recovery flights are also reported. This module uses several algorithms and data sources to ensure complete reporting of diversions even when one or more data sources are incomplete or not available. The primary underlying data sources are TFMS flight plans, CountOps arrivals and departures, and OAG Out Off On In (OOOI) data containing a flight status of diverted or recovery. Access to this module is restricted.
The primary source of diversions in this interface is the OAG OOOOI data for scheduled flights. It is supplemented by an algorithm that uses TFMS flight plans with an in air change in destination, validated by CountOps arrival and departure records. The interface also reports diversions reported by Mitre based on TFMS flight plans supplemented by CountOps.
ASPM Diversions (Enhanced) data can be viewed on the FAA Operations & Performance Data Web site.
